Banchhita Sahu is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and lead for Gynaecological Oncology at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust (SATH). Her private practice is based at Nuffield Hospital, Shrewsbury.

She is a gynaecological oncologist with an interest in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. She was instrumental in the introduction of total laparoscopic hysterectomy (keyhole hysterectomy) at SATH and is trained in performing complex gynaecological keyhole operations even in the morbidly obese women.

Dr Sahu completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in East Midlands, UK. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists awarded her a fellowship in 2016. She was also certified as Minimal Invasive Gynaecological Surgeon by ESGE (European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy) in 2017.

Dr Sahu has established various specialist clinics in Gynaecology at SATH such as one-stop Postmenopausal bleeding clinic, Post-coital bleeding clinic and specialist Vulval clinic. She introduced and established Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and same day discharge, Laparoscopic Sub Total Hysterectomy. She is the only surgeon in West Midlands to offer in-bag morcellation for laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy in women with fibroid uterus. Dr Sahu was recently interviewed in the Daily Mail for this revolutionary new treatment that has significant patient benefits.
